5 Bizarre Looking Bats

Now , there are many different types of bats in the world but here is the most bizarre looking bats in a list of 5, some you probably haven't even heard of before.

         1. Chapins Bat -

This bat is also known as the "hairdo" and the males have a very strange odor which they use to attract females during breeding season. They're insectivores and live in Central Africa , in the rain forest.

         2. Hammer Headed Bat -

This bat is also found in the rain forest of Africa. The large bat gets its name from its funny / strange shaped headed which the males have. Most of the males thorax is a resonating chamber, this allows them to produce a very loud mating call to attract females. They feed on fruit however sometimes feed on other animals.

          3.Tube Nosed Fruit Bat -

This bat is found in the Philippines, this bat is critically endangered and found in the rain forest. It was discovered in 1984 , this type of species of bat is noted for its strangely tubular nostrils. Also the bat has stripes on its back , this is a rare site because not many bats have stripes at all. They feed mostly on figs and other fruits however do enjoy the odd insect now and again.

       4. Big Eared Bat -

This type of bat feeds on flying insects at night time just like may other bats and using echolocation to find them but their enormous ears gives them a lot better hearing compared to other smaller eared bats. This bat is found in many parts of the world and belong to diverse genera.

       5. Ghosted Faced Bats -

This bat is wide spread all over the world all from southern USA to Peru. They don't really have a nose and have strange hard skin flaps on their face. This gives them a weird appearance. They feed on nocturnal insects.

5 Species Of Animal That Are Evolving In Todays World

These are the animals which are  evolving in todays world :
  1. Coyotes , Wolves and Dogs are interbreeding -
These animals were breed together and produced the worlds first coywolf. This coywolf was bigger and stronger than its parents. It was twice as heavy as a coyote and had faster legs as it had a more muscular body and large jaws. All this made the coywolf a better hunter overall compared to its parents. Today there are a few million coywolves , all across the eastern coast of North America. They howl like a wolf starting low and then breaking into a high pitched yelp like a coyote, this call is very distinct.

       2.    Swallows Wings Are Getting Shorter -

Swallows normally build their homes on bridges , highways and on busy roads because their homes on the cliffs normally get washed away. This wasn't a good start because the swallows ended up as roadkill , thousands of birds were found dead because of etc. oncoming cars. However suddenly the number of dead swallows went down unexpectedly, for no reason.
Researchers o found that the swallows wings were getting shorter , only by a few millimetres but this was enough for them not to end up as roadkill anymore. This lend for the swallows to be quicker.

         3. Lizards Evolving to live on higher trees -

Their Home was Invaded by the brown anoles which are from Cuba. This made food hard to come by, this caused them to compete for all the food however the brown anoles have a nasty habit eating the green anoles young as a source of food.  This made the green anoles move higher up in the trees and this caused their bodies to change a lot. Over the last 15 yrs of the brown anoles invasion, the green anoles toe pads have become bigger and got more sticky scales on their feet. For the green anoles these is a massive change in a short period of time.

         4. Mice becoming immune to poison -

Many mice in Algeria have become immune to poison. Now some German mice have breed with Algerian mice, This has now caused the German mouse to evolve into a brand new hybrid which  carries the immunity of the Algerian mice. These new hybrid of mice are propagating in Germany. The hybrid mouse now can nibble away at the poison warfarin without any reaction , this is causing them to evolve quickly.

         5. Elephants are losing their tusks -

African Elephants are evolving a lot because of poachers. Poachers normally target long tusked elephants because the amount of ivory is greater , this means an increase in the amount of profit they make. As a result the elephants usually die before they produce any off spring themselves. The smaller tusked elephants however are getting to reproduce but they are passing their tiny tusk gene down to there children. This results in the average tusk size since the middle of the 19th century for an African elephant has halved. See in the 1930s seeing a tuskless elephant was incredibly rare however some in todays world are born without tusks at all. This hit Luangwa the worst as 38% of elephants didn't have tusks in 1997.
